What do all the icons mean? For students

DESCRIPTION

Located at the top of the reading panel
Text selection icon for the highlighting tool Select the option for text selection to comment on or ask a question about text. Then highlight the text you want to comment on.
landscape icon for figure selecting highlighting tool Select the option for figure selection to comment on a figure. To pinpoint a single part of a figure, click or tap to indicate the point you want to comment on. To highlight a region of a figure, click and drag (long press and then swipe on a touchscreen device) to draw a rectangle that indicates the part of the figure you want to comment on.
printing icon Use the Print icon if printing is enabled for a particular document.
copy to clipboard icon Use Copy to Clipboard to copy your highlighted text, then you can paste the material into a comment.
gears icon for the options dropdown menu Select the Options dropdown to zoom in or out of the document and adjust the page. 
filter icon to filter through comments The Filter icon has multiple uses. If the document has too many highlights resulting in difficulties reading, you can filter to no comments for a clean reading experience. Alternatives are filtering by person or group.
question mark icon for "get help" Select the Get Help dropdown to reach out to Perusall Support, search our knowledge base, view keyboard shortcuts, and or sign up for future webinars.
grid icon for quick navigation access on the right top screen of in a perusall course The Grid icon allows for quick navigation to create a Book or Journal Club or to join a new course with an enrollment code.

graph icon for assignment information Select Assignment Information to see the assignment submission deadline, instructions, and navigate through multi-part assignments.
people icon for groups Select Members of my group to see what group number you're in, and the other members of your group.
conversation bubble for viewing a specific comment When you click on a highlight, or comment, the content will be displayed in the Current Conversation.
2 conversation bubbles icon to view all conversations in a document Select All Conversations to browse the full list of students' comments and questions.
star icon to favorite a comment Select My Starred Comments to browse a list of students' comments and questions that you have starred for later review.
page thumbnail icon to click on a specific page Page Thumbnails provides a page-at-a-glance view for a given resource, allowing for a quick view of the entire document.
list icon for the table of contents Select Table of Contents to navigate the document via the table of contents. In some instances the Table of Contents may not be available.
magnifying glass icon for the search bar Select Search to search the contents of the entire book.

Screenshot 2023-07-20 at 6.47.15 PM.png When students or instructors respond to one of your comments, you are notified in the Notifications panel.
bookmark icon to place marks in parts of the assignment users want to look back on Select Bookmark to save the location you are reading in.
pencil icon for the notes feature In the Notes panel, you can take notes that are private to you (or you can share them with other course members). Type text, or highlight text or pictures to copy in, with links back to the document.
microphone icon for the real aloud feature  In the Read-aloud panel, you can scroll the text to anywhere in the document, and then click the start button to start reading aloud. Click the Start thread button while text is being read to start a conversation based on text you just heard.
