How do I highlight and create, edit, or delete a comment?

  • Updated

Highlighting

To add a comment, highlight text in the document. The method you use depends on the type of document your teacher provided.

Create, submit, and edit comments

After highlighting, a new conversation window will open on the right where you can type your comment. Press Enter or click Submit to save it, making it visible to others.

  • To edit a comment, click on it, make your changes, and press Enter to save.
  • To delete, click the trash can icon under the comment.

To avoid disrupting the flow of an ongoing conversation, you can only delete or edit a comment until someone has responded to it.

Comments on videos and podcasts

  • To add a comment to a video or podcast, click the + Add Comment button at the top right of the video or audio player. This will pause the media and add a comment linked to the current timestamp.

Dynamic content in comments

Perusall offers powerful tools for both instructors and students to enhance comments with dynamic content. These features enable users to integrate and personalize multimedia elements, such as images, videos, hyperlinks, and interactive resources, directly into discussions.

Tagging and quoting in conversations

When you @-mention someone in a comment, they will be notified by email and in their notifications inbox in the course.

Download comments

Students are then able to download their comments on any item in the library, if they so choose. They'll do this by going to their course library, clicking on a desired document, and then pressing "download my comments".
