How do I override the scores that Perusall provides?

If you have enabled Automatic scoring in your course and would like to manually adjust student grades, you can easily override the comment scores provided by Perusall.

You can manually adjust grades in three different ways:

  • Directly within the assignment
  • In a spreadsheet view via All Comments
  • Through the Grade Assignment feature

Directly Within the Assignment

  1. Select All conversations> and select a comment.
  2. Click the three dots dropdown menu and select Score. To change it, click on the arrow and select a new score from the dropdown menu.

To review the comments in spreadsheet format

  1. Go to your Course home and select Assignments at the top.
  2. Click on the desired assignment, then click All comments.
  3. Individual comment scores will display for every comment in this view. To change a score, click on it and select a new value from the dropdown menu.

Through the Grade Assignment Feature

To see a complete grade breakdown (including each scoring component) for an individual student:

  1. Click Grade Assignment from the assignment details page, or click on a student's score directly within the Gradebook.
  2. Inside this window, you can override the automatically generated score by typing a new number into the text box in the top-left corner.
  3. You can also view every individual comment made by that student by clicking on Comments submitted.
