Can I allow students to download and print the readings?

  • Updated

You can enable students to download and print the materials that you upload directly. (Items purchased through the catalog cannot be downloaded). To enable this on a per-document basis:

  1. Navigate to the Library panel on the course home page.
  2. Click to highlight a document, and then click the Edit button.
  3. Check the box to enable downloading of the file directly, then click Save.

When the document is made downloadable, students will see a button to download the original PDF or EPUB file on the course home page, as well as in the navigation bar when they are reading the document.

To enable document downloads at the course level:

  1. Navigate to Settings> Advanced> Library & assignments.
  2. Check off Allow students to download all uploaded course materials.

For textbooks purchased through Perusall, printing depends on the publisher’s permissions. Some may allow it, but there could be limits on how much or how often users can print. Navigate to the course library and select the book to view the publisher rules.

If printing is available for a document, a print button will appear in the toolbar when the document is open. You can also navigate to the course library, select the document, and click download.
